I created this site as part of my work to earn a CA single subject teacher credential (HS) at CSU San Marcos in Sep 2014. I spent my first year teaching Chemistry at King Chavez Community High School in downtown San Diego ('15-'16). My second year I was honored to be able to serve my community, teaching Math 3 and 3+ at Ramona High. I have lived in the San Diego Country Estates since 2003 (moved in about a week before the first fire), and have four children working through three of the Ramona schools. Unfortunately, I was not able to continue teaching at RHS, and instead of going to a third HS in 3 years I am seeking a new direction.
I used to call teaching my third career, now I am not sure. Reinventing myself as a teacher was difficult, and I had mixed results. I started my professional life as a Naval Officer and SH-2f Helicopter pilot. After about 10 years, I became an Aerospace Engineer and Program Manager. I was involved with a lot of exciting technology including, GPS, synthetic aperture radar (SAR), satellites, and rockets. I have been helping to raise my four children. I also spent/spend a fair amount of time with crazy activities like SCUBA diving, motorcycles, backpacking, golf, running, wrestling, and goofing off on my computer.
